First Birth Session.
When my second shooter and friend Mary found out she was pregnant she texted me and said " would you be interested on doing a birth session?" I texted back and I said " I have never done it, if I have time I will but, I am not a Newborn or Birth Photographer" she texted me back saying, " Get ready because you will shoot mine.. I'm pregnant!" I was extremely excited for her and her little family and looking forward to the big day. I was crossing my fingers she would have baby Owen during the week since I will be in the middle of wedding season by her due date. On March 23th 2016 at 7pm she was induce to the hospital Owen was getting ready at 5cm dilated I got gear re-charge batteries and by 12am on March 24th 2016 I was at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital for woman waiting and chatting with my awesome friend.
I was nervous and did not know what to expect (like where do I stand, getting in the way but still get great shots). You see when I had my child 4 years ago, I was induce and within 3 hours I was rushed to the OR due to complications so I did not experience "Birth" not knowing made me very anxious. By 4:20am she was already 10cm dilated and they were getting ready, I felt a rushed of anxiety and energy all at the same time, I am was PUMPED!
Dr. Scroggs had Mary pushing at 4:30am and at 4:42am Owen Cole came into this world weighing 7 lbs. 15 oz very healthy baby boy. He is beautiful and just perfect I felt a whole bag of emotions I wanted to cry, laugh, drink, jump but I was able to keep myself together and take pictures. I can not thank Mary and Cody enough for allowing me to be there in such a private and important moment in their family's life. Birth is a lot like shooting weddings you only get one shot on doing it right and that is a very big deal no re-dos and for all Birth and Newborns photographers out there what a great job you all have to experience God's miracle. Thanks again Mary and Cody.
